I have seen footage of wounded being loaded onto ships on D Day and a person standing on the deck assisting the boom carrying the wounded had an exact same helmet on as mine.

Several attempts to have the stripes origin identified have failed. Any information about it would be great. Are Israeli M1 helmets copies? Or are they modified U.S. M1s? Ive seen them with front seams, stainless steel and all that jaz.

But are they U.S. or just copies? I see those stupid things all the time, and wonder if its U.S. and worth getting and restoring.

I tried acetone, stripper, thinner, de-greaser, and gulash.

It just made the fabric that wasn't painted nice and clean!

Should I just replace the webbing and salvage the hardware?

I found this helmet in Normandy and he have received red paint color after the ww2. When i have clean and remove the red paint, i have find a small white bar on the left side of the helmet.

I haven't find any other marking on the helmet.

Can you help me to identify this marking please ?
