What do these markings mean? |

I received this in a trade. I was in the process of stripping away a "TON" of re-paint, when I found these. It had white stripes going around like an M.P. helmet, but I was Un-able to save that. It was originally black, with white stripes, and these insignias.
The front reads, "SYKES' REGULARS" Does anybody know what this unit is? Farrell

After much digging. This appears to be a 6th Infantry Division liner.
Sykes' Regulars, refers to a nick name given to them during the Civil War while serving with the 20th division under Gen. Goerge Sykes. This division has the record for most consecutive combat days. 219, fought in the Pacific. I am assuming this is a parade helmet, or ceremonial helmet. |

is this the F liner i traded you? if so i didn't have a clue there were any markings on it. thats kinda cool 1 marked liner for another marked liner. phillip |

Yes, this is the one you traded me. This is how good the bix stripper works! I beleive its post war markings, but still a nice liner! I'll post some pictures when Im done restoring it! Farrell |
