I realize some have 4 eyelets and some have 5. As far as the 4 hole, do they all have stitching between the 3rd and 4th eyelet? Are they the same as post Korea thru Vietnam chin cups except in color? Do some have U.S. and some not? I bought this one shown and cannot tell if it is genuine WWII or if it could be a Vietnam era that has been dyed or bleached to look this way. It appears the same as the 'Nam era cups I have, eyelets and all. Can anyone tell me if the eyelets are the same metal from WWII thru Vietnam? Last Edited By: hughiehound 07/26/08 14:26:22. If its cotton, and the straps are khaki, its most likely WWII. If its Nylon, its totally Vietnam. Nylon will retain a sheen when held to light. Cotton will not shine if its been used and is not new. These have the same design from WWII, all the way till the M1 helmet was replaces by the Kevlar. Number of eyelets vary between mfgr.
